Looking Back on 2016

If our information-age media hasn’t slaked your thirst for year-end reflections and projections, then perhaps you’ll take a moment to reflect upon how Western Campus helps you get the books you need at prices you can afford.

Our staff will remember 2016 as the most important year in the 19-year history of Western Campus Resources. From January through December, we made our new warehouse more efficient. We spent the first months of the year getting familiar with our new space. By the time the summer rush materialized, our larger space proved much more efficient than our old facility. We negotiated lower freight rates and installed new PowerSmart LED lights in the warehouse. And earlier this month a change to our inventory management system decreased the time it takes to pick your orders. While you might not notice any of these changes, they are all critical to allowing us to keep prices for used textbooks and new novels low and our freight (mostly) free.

In June, we unveiled a new iteration of our web page, www.WesternCampus.ca . Built from scratch, the new page incorporates many of your suggestions. We thank you for your input, which we credit for the user-friendly quality of the new site. You can now obtain pricing information for used textbooks and new novels quickly and at any time of the day or night.

We also began the important task of replacing our aging human assets. And, as one of those aging assets, I can say unequivocally that our new, younger personnel will definitely continue to provide you with the best customer service in our industry.

Western Campus is like an iceberg, with only a few of our more than 40 staff and hundreds of suppliers visible to you, our customer. We would like to thank all of our unseen teammates for their unparalleled
contribution to Western Campus’s success in 2016.

Last, but not least, we thank our customers for your continuing support. Without customers, nothing else matters. With the changes we made in 2016, we feel we are now in a position to grow and evolve to meet your book-buying needs in 2017 and beyond.

To all of you, Happy Holidays and wishing you the best in 2017.
